Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR) has car parking right beside the terminals, covering everything from a one-minute drop-off to leaving a vehicle for the length of a holiday. It is worth saying up front that most travellers never use it: with Nha Trang about 35 km north and self-driving uncommon among visitors, the great majority arrive by taxi, private transfer or Grab rather than their own car. Still, parking matters if a friend is dropping you off, if you live locally, or if you have hired a car for a road trip along the Khánh Hòa coast.

Short-stay versus long-stay parking

The car park is organised around two needs. Short-stay spaces sit closest to the terminal entrances and are built for quick stops, so they are ideal when you are simply setting down a departing passenger or collecting an arriving one. Long-stay parking is the area to use when a car will be left while you fly, since it is geared toward longer durations. Signs at the entrance direct you to the right zone for the two terminals, the domestic building and the international Terminal 2.

Rates and payment

Charges are set by the airport operator and usually rise with the time parked, with the short-stay area best kept to brief stops. Because tariffs are reviewed periodically and we never want to quote a figure that has since changed, the reliable move is to check the current rates on the airport's official channels before you travel. Bring Vietnamese dong (VND) for payment, take your entry ticket, and hold on to it, as you will need it to pay and exit. There are ATMs in the terminal area if you arrive without cash.

Dropping off and picking up

For a quick goodbye or a meet-and-greet, pull into the short-stay area rather than circling the access road, which keeps traffic flowing and the kerb clear. A few practical pointers:

  • Note your row or zone before walking inside, so finding the car later is easy.
  • Agree a meeting point with whoever you are collecting, as arrival timings drift.
  • Lock valuables out of sight if the car is staying for a while.
  • Keep the ticket safe; a lost ticket can mean a higher exit charge.

Do you actually need to park?

For most visitors the answer is no. A pre-booked transfer or a metered taxi is simpler than driving, and it skips parking fees entirely.
