Licensed taxis at Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR) wait at the marked rank just outside the arrivals hall. They are the most direct way to reach Nha Trang, about 45 minutes north along the coast road, as well as the Bai Dai resorts only minutes from the terminal. With no train serving the airport, a taxi is the on-demand choice when you want to step off the plane and go.
Where the rank is

Follow the signs from the baggage hall to the official taxi rank in front of the terminal, then take the next car in the queue. Genuine airport cabs carry a company name, phone number and meter, with the firm's livery on the doors; the trusted metered brands across Vietnam are Mai Linh and Vinasun, so either is a safe pick. The queue usually moves fast, though a cluster of arriving flights can mean a few minutes' wait. Ignore anyone who approaches you inside the hall offering a ride, as those unofficial cars can charge far more.
How fares work
Taxis are metered. Because the city is roughly 45 minutes away, this is one of the bigger fares you will pay, so check that the meter starts when you pull away, or settle the total price before you leave. For the long run to town, confirm two things first: that the quoted price actually reaches your exact address, and whether road tolls are included or added on top (naming the full destination upfront avoids surprises). Keep your hotel name written down to show the driver.
Payment in VND
Pay in Vietnamese dong (VND). Carry smaller notes for the fare and any toll, since not every taxi takes cards and a driver may struggle to break a 500,000-dong bill late at night. There is an ATM in the arrivals area if you land without cash.
Grab and other options
Grab ride-hailing is a popular alternative: the app quotes a set price before you book, so the cost is fixed in advance, and you can pay by card or cash. As a rule of thumb, Grab is hard to beat for the cheap, clearly priced hop to the Bai Dai resorts, while either Grab or a metered cab suits the longer city run. Heading to a particular resort, or landing very late? A pre-booked private transfer with a driver waiting at arrivals removes any fare confusion altogether. Quick tips
- For a group, one car is usually better value than several separate fares.
- Keep small VND notes handy, and screenshot your hotel address in Vietnamese to show the driver.
- Travelling outside daylight hours? A pre-booked transfer avoids any fare confusion on arrival.
Fares can change and tolls vary, so treat any figure as a guide and confirm close to your travel date.
