The shuttle bus is the cheapest way to travel from Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR) into Nha Trang, roughly 35 km north along the coast. For a solo traveller or a couple without much luggage, it undercuts a taxi or a private car by a wide margin, trading a little speed and convenience for a much lower fare. With no train serving the airport, the bus is the budget choice into the city centre.
Riding the airport shuttle bus to Nha Trang

This service runs from outside the terminal to central Nha Trang and takes about 50 to 60 minutes, a touch longer than a metered cab because it makes stops along the way. Buy your ticket at the airport once you land. Its real catch is frequency: departures are tied to flight arrivals and run far less often than an ordinary city bus, so a long wait is possible if you miss one. Check the current timetable before you count on it, and have a backup in mind for a late-night landing.
Resort and hotel shuttles
If your bed is out on the coast rather than in the city, a different shuttle may suit you better. Many properties along the Bai Dai strip include an airport pick-up in the booking or will arrange one for a fee, often the smoothest way to reach a beachfront resort. Ask at the time of booking whether a transfer is part of the package and where the driver meets you. Our guide to the resorts covers that short hop in detail.
Bus versus taxi, Grab and private transfer
On price alone the bus wins. Everything else, namely speed, door-to-door comfort and a guaranteed seat, points toward a private ride. This is how the main choices stack up:
| Option | Roughly how it compares |
|---|---|
| Shuttle bus | Cheapest; ~50 to 60 min; stops en route; infrequent; drops you in the centre, not at your door |
| Taxi | Metered, ~45 min, on demand at the rank; straight to your hotel |
| Grab (ride-hail) | App price shown upfront; ~45 min; pay by card or cash |
| Private transfer | Fixed price, driver waits at arrivals; best with luggage or a group |
- Travelling light and watching the budget? The bus is hard to beat, provided the timetable fits your flight.
- Carrying bags, a family or landing late? A taxi or pre-booked private transfer saves the hassle.
